Insight

Working with Fotografiska, the ambition was to create an evening that didn't just tell people why engaging with art and mindfulness benefits health — but demonstrated it.

Approach

Using portable EEG, I recorded my brainwave response to war photographer, James Nachtwey's, film in the gallery. Working with 3D artist Nikita Freeboid, we translated that data into a moving image artwork driven by alpha brainwave data, set to the sound of my own heartbeat.

Co-curating the programme for the first Art & Mindfulness Night Academy, bringing together interdiciplinary artists and speakers. The artwork was presented in a talk on Neuroaesthetics, showcasing that the very reasons art moves us are also the reasons it is so good for our long-term health.

Impact

A sold-out event that positioned Fotografiska at the leading edge of the art and mindfulness movement.

Interviewed for Berlin’s culture publication, tip Berlin. Demonstrated live on rbb national television.
